Dog and Cat Grooming Safety at Bubbles Pet Spa

The Torrance Daily Breeze released an article about dogs tragic dog deaths while at the groomers. Recently grooming salons have made headlines across the country with incidents in New Jersey and Virginia. These deaths stem from pets being left unattended, either in a cage dryer that caused the dog to overheat or choker leashes that strangle the dog. These incidents are not accidents but rather mishandling of animals since they could have easily been prevented. These issues have also energized a long standing debate in California about industry regulation that is non-existent. A measure in California’s 2012 vote called for state wide regulation for the entire grooming industry, but failed to pass and become law.

We are bringing these headlines to our customers’ attention to assure them that Bubbles Pet Spa is at the forefront of pet safety and whole heartedly support regulation in the industry. Since our inception in 2005 in the city of Torrance, Bubbles Pet Spa has been a leader in pet safety. The salon is totally open so that customers and staff can see all dogs at all times. We have nothing to hide; our glass walls give customers a view of every aspect of their pet’s grooming visit. We believe transparency is the key to gaining our customers trust. This makes leaving a pet unattended very difficult because we have no “backrooms.” Also, employees are required to have an arm’s length reach of their client or they must pass supervision of that pet on to another employee when leaving the animal.

At Bubbles Pet Spa, we only have dryers that are temperature controlled and have a 20-minute cycle shut off. This assures pets’ body temperatures will always remain constant and there is no possibility of accidents like the incident that occurred in New Jersey.

In addition, all Bubbles Pet Spa employees go through a rigorous 3-step training process to become a Stylist. This training may take years to complete and has safety as its cornerstone.

Every accident, injury or cut that occurs at Bubbles Pet Spa is logged and tracked by our safety tracking system. Each incident is then discussed and reviewed by management. This tracking system allows us to understand why they are occurring and takes steps to stop them from happening again.

Dog grooming can be a dangerous task with all its distractions. Working with living creatures is often eventful and full of surprises. This is why we created a concierge service where Keisha and Kim take appointments in a remote location in Carson. This allows groomers to focus on the pet and avoid leaving the dogs unattended to answer phones and book appointments.

With all the horror stories going on around the country we would like to assure our customers that your baby will be treated as such at Bubbles Pet Spa. Since our first location in Torrance, CA we have grown to become a leader in the Los Angeles area and we will continue to stay ahead of the industry when it comes to pet safety.
